Quick fixes and this season’s Celebrity Diet plan…..do they really exist and offer long term health and fitness, not to mention little black dresses benefits? Has no one ever told you if it is too good to be true it probably isn’t?! Hum…….(I hope my wife is reading this!)

A fad diet is a diet that promises quick weight loss through what is usually an unhealthy and unbalanced diet, think nothing but smoothie after smoothie or drinking aloe vera gel and not consuming much more than a morsel of food for 9 days.

There’s a huge number of fad diets available and almost every week there seems to be a new revolutionary quick fix, there’s no doubt the fad diet is the King of the dieting world. The C9, a juicing diet, even the Atkins diet are nothing more than marketing gimmicks and to be honest, generally speaking, are a complete waste of your time as the results tend to be so short lived. A diet that is both short term and unsustainable, basically anything that doesn’t instil new and long-lasting tendencies in your food intake, is not only counterproductive to your long-term success but also in my opinion a waste of your money!

Nutritionally deficient and unhealthy, these quick fix diets are unsustainable eating plans and almost always fail, inevitably sending their consumer back to a more negative stage than when they began. Yes, they can deliver immediate results, but if we checked back in with these individuals a few months or even weeks later, we’re likely to find them thinking about their next magical solution – which probably still doesn’t involve a lifestyle change or hitting the gym. (My wife really needs to read this!)

The message of this piece is that unfortunately there is no miracle diet, you need to take your time, be patient and most importantly build positive habits for the future, not just for a short-lived stretch. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither was the perfect body, but getting into a healthy rhythm of being mindful about what you put into your body and about increasing your levels of physical exercise will, without fail, will provide the desired results.
